On January 14, 2026, the Bible Society of Rwanda held a press briefing at its headquarters in Kacyiru, Kigali, to share updates on the preparations for the upcoming Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

Purpose and Significance
The event aims to promote unity among Christian believers based on God’s Word. Pastor Viateur Ruzibiza, the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Rwanda, emphasized that the week seeks to strengthen fellowship and reconciliation among protestant churches and the Catholic Church, reminding Christians that “we are one in Christ.”

Dates and Venues
The week will run from January 18 to 25, 2026, be launched at Saint André Parish in Muhanga and will conclude in Gicumbi, the Northern Province. Activities will include joint worship, messages of unity, and celebrations that highlight the value of being one in Christ.

2026 Unity Week Theme
This year’s theme is drawn from Ephesians 4:4:
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope.”

Beyond distributing Bibles, the Bible Society focuses on ensuring the actualization of the Word of God to those who received Scriptures. Pastor Ruzibiza noted that the Bible consistently teaches love, unity, cooperation, and reconciliation from beginning to end.

The celebrations will involve choirs, priests, pastors, and Christians from various denominations. Media partnerships will ensure the message reaches a wider audience, including those unable to attend in person.

Christians are encouraged to read the Bible fully, support unity initiatives, and participate in the events. “Questions will be answered gradually as people engage and grow in understanding,” Pastor Ruzibiza concluded.
