Celebrating Hope and Solidarity: A Visit to Ngoma Women Correctional Facility

On December 18th, the Bible Society of Rwanda (BSR), in partnership with other organizations, including the GNPD, Caritas Rwanda, and several other dedicated organizations, took a meaningful step towards supporting vulnerable women at the Ngoma Correctional Facility. This special visit aimed to bring joy and hope to the women in the Ngoma Correctional Facility as they were approaching the Christmas and New Year celebrations of 2026.

During this heartfelt event, a variety of essential items were generously donated. These included both Protestant and Catholic Bibles, which serve as sources of spiritual guidance and comfort. Additionally, provided sanitary products to support hygiene needs, clothing for pregnant women and children to ensure dignity and warmth, and nourishment to support breastfeeding mothers. The distribution of these items was carried out with the invaluable assistance of the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), highlighting the power of collaboration in making a positive impact.
The highlight of the visit was the inspirational message shared by BSR’s General Secretary. By referencing Genesis 39, he encouraged the women to stay faithful to God and to continue doing good, regardless of their circumstances. His words resonated deeply and served as a beacon of hope amidst the challenges they face. The representatives from the Ngoma Correctional Facility expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support and kindness shown during this visit. They warmly welcomed the possibility of future visits, indicating a strong desire for ongoing connection and support.

This event was not just about the material donations; it was a powerful demonstration of hope, faith, and solidarity. Together, we reinforced the message that even in difficult times, the spirit of community and compassion can shine brightly. We look forward to continuing this journey of support and friendship with the women of Ngoma Correctional Facility as we move into the New Year.

Thank you to all our partners and supporters who made this event possible. Your generosity and commitment to uplifting those in need truly embody the spirit of Christmas and the hope for a better future.
