BSR COMMEMORATED ITS BOARD MEMBERS AND STAFF KILLED DURING THE 1994 GENOCIDE AGAINST THE TUTSI
On the 5th of June 2024, the Bible Society of Rwanda commemorated its Board Mmebers and employees who were killed during the 1994 Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Every year, BSR commemorates together with other Rwandans to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
The Guest of Honor in the ceremony was His Eminence Antoine Cardinal Kambanda, who is also the Legal Representative of the Bible Society of Rwanda. Other attendants of the event included members of BSR, Board members, staffs, choirs and other invited guests such as the Gasabo District representation, Ibuka leaders in Gasabo and others.
BSR Commemorates four employees who served in different positions until their lives were taken, these four includes:
Ev. Karangwa Kitoko Thomas,
Past. Nkurunziza Alphonse,
Past. Iyamuremye Amon,
Mr. Kanamugire Theogene.
Ahead of the commemoration event, The Bible Society visited families of the victims to comfort them and to emphasize the contributions their family members offered to BSR before the Genocide.
Victims were honored where their bodies are resting at Kabusunzu Memorial and Kigali Genocide Memorial, and Wreaths were laid at their graves at both Memorials, A gesture of deep respect and remembrance for all the innocent lives lost.

His Eminence Antoine Cardinal Kambanda appreciated the presence of everyone in honor of the lives of the victims. He highlighted that the gift to give to the victims is to live a dignified and better life as survivors. he also encouraged to live in harmony with everyone and put our unity first.
