The Bible society of Rwanda started the Good Samaritan Program in 2005, it was initiated to fight against HIV/AIDS and stigmatization to support affected people in the society. BSR started also The Voice of Young Samaritan to help the youth planning for their future in a positive and realistic way.
This program, targets young people from churches and help them learn Christian values to guide them in their future lives.
From the 1st to 4th of March this year, through the Voice of Young Samaritan, BSR gathered people from different denominations who support young people in Churches including those children of Sunday schools and equipped them with knowledge on how to help teenagers prepare for their future by observing the Christian values.
This Program intends to help adolescents prepare their future in a realistic and positive way and facilitators are equipped with knowledge by different experienced trainers who help them know how they can provide lessons to youngsters such as:
- managing peer pressure
- Reproductive health and social life
- Sexuality and Love
- HIV Preventions and stigmatization
- Taking responsible decisions
- Inclusion of people with disabilities
- and also to engage with their parents
All the lessons are drawn from the Good Samaritan story in the Bible following Biblical based values but also based on the experience in social lives. They are designed to support the growth of teenagers and other young people so that they are enabled to prepare their better future and for their families and that of the Church and the country in general.
