PRAYERS FOR THE CHRISTIANS' UNITY WEEK
On the 25th January 2024, The Bible Society of Rwanda held the closure of the prayer for the Christians’ Unity Week that was launched on the 18th January 2024, as it happens every year, the Legal Representative of BSR, together with the Board Members, Bishops and different Church Leaders in the country come together to pray for the unity of Christians.
18th January 2024, was the day of the launching of the Christians’ Unity Week at the Free Methodist Church of Rwanda Gikondo Parish whereby Mgr.Vincent Harolimana the Catholic Bishop of Ruhengeri Diocese & Mgr.Samuel Kayinamura, the Vice Legal Representative of BSR, together the Board Chair Rev. Julie Kandema, and Father. Cyrille Uwizeye who is also a Board Member at BSR participated in the launching ceremony together with other church leaders.
The Launching of this prayerful week also gathered Christians from different churches and choirs in order to embrace the diversity of worship all towards the only and same loving God, choirs who participated included; Injili Bora Choir, EPR EAR Gikondo Choir Impanda Choir, ADEPR Gikondo Parish Choir, Catholic and Salvation Choir, EMLR
During the Launching, Mgr.Vincent Harolimana the Catholic Bishop of Ruhengeri Diocese shared the Word of God in Luc 10:25 whereby he highlighted the Love to our neighbor and he asked Christians to fully emerge in Christ and embrace the Love of God everywhere, and to practice Love to everyone, He prayed a prayer for the Christians‘ Unity in the country and around the world. Churches were given a material to use while praying for the Christians’ Unity around the country and this material contains useful contents specifically for this week but also to be used throughout the year.
During the Closing Ceremony of the week of prayer for Christians’ Unity that held at the Catholic Parish “Regina Pacis Remera”, Mgr.Dr.Jered Kalimba of the Anglican Church of Rwanda /EAR Diocese Shyogwe, shared the word of God and encouraged the congregation to live a life that demonstrate love. His Eminence Antoine Cardinal Kambanda the Legal Representative of the Bible Society of Rwanda, together with other Bishops prayed for Love and Unity of Christians and himself thanked church leaders, Christians and present choirs from different churches who were present for greatly consider responding to the invitation of the Bible Society of Rwanda.
Praying for the Christians’ unity continues in churches around the country, what was concluded is just the prayer week as reminded by His Eminence Antoine Cardinal Kambanda, He encouraged church leaders to continue with prayers.
